Achievement Through Service

Our psychological need for achievement has persisted – it is at the core of being human - we thrive on it. Our way of achieving will however will need to fundamentally change and evolve if we are to move towards a better, more collaborative and caring society - away from a dominantly competitive cut-throat one we currently are in.
At an individual level - the need for difference, uniqueness and individual significance can be done through a service-based mentality. One's unique abilities and how this can serve beyond self for a greater cause beyond one's own survival.
At a group leave it will be working with those who are different in all dimensions of diversity (beliefs, disciplines, ethnicities, languages, expertise, ways of thinking etc).

Over the next century we will see an increased level of collaborative behaviours replacing competitive behaviours

1) Integrative religions and philosophies
2) Reduced interest in competitive sports
3) Increased interest in interdisciplinary and inter-X behaviours
4) Increase in inter-faith, inter-racial marriages
5) Increased in globalisation
6) Elimination of comparison-based /rank-based education systems and organisational reward systems.

What is Means to Be A Professional in the 21st Century

Today a profession is defined by the consumption and regurgitation of knowledge developed by others. You get a degree by doing exactly that. Original thought and original ideas that challenge established knowledge is not seen valuable and those who do it generally outcasts from their professional bodies and cohorts.
